Basic armatures

For my Grade 9s .....

Our simple armature is made of .5mm baling wire wrapped around a crumpled piece of A4 printed paper (from the recycling bin).

We then need to draw it on a flat piece of paper so that it looks like it is 3-D. This is called an illusion of 3-dimensions.
Work in 2 steps......

  1. Create the illusion of a wrapped cylinder using  imaginary lighting from the left. Form shadows will then be on the right.
  2. Create an illusion of space by sketching in a 'corner' behind the form of the armature.
  3. The armature and the drawing will be for your term assessment.
  4. Practice makes perfect!
