Sourcebook for Grade 9 Stereotypes

Make an A4 sourcebook containing:-

• Cover page – your name and information about  stereo types – look at the Studio238 blog

• Your character sketch (written)– link to your Prezi OR put in an actual page

• Your character – coloured drawing (A4)

• Madonna’s ‘forensic profile’ (I have the pages) OR a link to a site (e.g. Evernote 9S or e-mail)

• Anything else? Extras?

• Your self-evaluation rubric sheet

• How will you bind these pages?

• Don’t put your story board in your book – this should be fastened together as a group project and handed in.

These fun photos look at the relationship between the figures (letters of the alphabet) and the ground (the white background).
However, all is not what it seems!

Answer these questions by  commenting at the bottom of this post.

1. Relate the terms 'figure' and 'ground' to the concepts of positive and negative shape.

1. Can you discuss the symbolism of this work? How do symbols give the viewer clues about Bell’s spiritual realm?
   (allocate 5 marks for this)
2. Can you briefly discuss Bell’s strategy of ‘borrowing’ & how it reflects her belief system? (allocate 3 marks)
3. How do the materials & techniques used reinforce the ideas behind her spiritual realm?
   (allocate 4 marks)

To “articulate your design / art ideas” – means to break the concept up into movable/flexible pieces – i.e. CHUNKING.

Your photos on line

I have been posting photos to a free site called Lightbox, and find they upload and download very quickly. I can then print them if I want. Sure... they are not 24MP in size, but are fine for 5cm x 5cm prints for sourcebooks.

Woolorths Brief uploads

For those learners doing the Woolworths project ..........

I think we should create a separate blog for this project when we are ready., and then upload everbody's work to this. In this manner we can give Woolworths one link to follow and this should make their life (and ours!) stress-free.

Are you missing Photoshop on your netbooks?

Photoshop needs too much RAM to use on a netbook, but I would like you to to try some free software called Gimp, and/or a web app called Aviary Image Editor.
