Textures for Grade 10
Artists need to be able to simulate textures to create new images. They need to refer to actual textures and then translate them. Look at this presentation for some activities.......
TEXTURE LINK
Your new posters will be on TEXTURE, and will need definitions, explanations, photographs and drawings. Consider the layout of these posters as well.

Comments on the Grade 12 March test........
Question1
Question 2 needed an immediate focus on the importance of the influence of Africa on an artist, so THIS is the chunk that should go with name of the artist and the title of the artwork.
i.e. the historical and geographical context; the inflluences from Africa; traditional meanings;
....... then carry on with the other guidelines!
Please see this link to Studio2-41

....... then carry on with the other guidelines!
- Discuss each artwork and then move on to the next piece by using a connecting sentence - don't jump around.
- Don't use headings - this is an essay.
- Underline the name of the artworks - this is protocol.
- Always use the surname.

Mapungubwe comments
For my Grade 12s ......
The architecture of Mapungubwe has two sites to discuss - the entrance by Crafford, and the Interpretive Centre by Rich. This is important as the amount of information related to Ancient cultures becomes considerably more, and so easier to get full marks.
The style of the essays was MUCH better! I like the way you are logically chunking similar thoughts together. Try and find a good introduction - possibly about Great Zimbabwe - and a good conclusion - possibly about the role of 'fusion' architecture in the African Renaissance?

Brett Murray
The theme of Art & Politics: Resistance Art is still relevant, especially regarding the role of censorship and the arts.
Remember - the theme is about images of POWER & RESISTANCE - not about morality and policing.
Murray based his painting on a historic poster of Lenin - a Russian dictator. Strangely enough - Zapiro then based his later satirical commentary on Murray's work - and so commentary carries on .......
How could you make an artwork go 'viral' to avoid censorship?
Read the arguments around this issue of censorship, and study the work itself.
1. On both sides ........
2. An argument against ........
3. Another interesting article .........
4. And another about freedom of the media ........
Argue your point of view by creating an infographic about this work. Don't forget to consider the artistic merits by analysing the elements, principles and technical aspects.
Look at other Brett Murray works that reference political cartoons.

Scribing on leaves
Fantastic idea to apply to some of your drawings! I can't find the artist reference (a pity) as these images have been re-posted countless times.
I would suggest soaking the leaves in glycerine first. This is just an informed guess though - experiment first.
