GRADE 9 - STEREOTYPES

Watch the video 'Legend of the Lost Kingdom'. Video Link
This animation works with stereotypes.

STAGE 1
You will each make a character using 'junk' materials.
Your character will also be stereotypical - research what this means. Research Link
Post a comment about your understanding of the meaning of 'stereotypical' or 'stereotype'. (You must be logged in with your Google name to do this)
  • You will first need to DRAW your stereotypical character to show how you will later use the junk.
  • You may then scan this drawing and colour it using Photoshop. You can then upload this to an app called 'Prezi'.
  • Write about your character so that we can understand what is stereotypical about him/her.
  • Put all this together in a 'sourcebook'. (See details in later post) This sourcebook will be assessed for your term's mark.

STAGE 2
Build your stereotypical character/creature using the useful junk you have collected. Swop with members of your group if needed.
Here is the rubric for assessment of your sculpture.

STAGE 3

Now create your own storyboard about the characters in your group scenario. Find out what a 'storyboard' is and look at some examples. This is a group activity.
