Connected Minds is a little problematic as it doesn't allow you to share your mind map.
This makes collaboration difficult.

Muladhara Chakra
For the Grade 11s.......
Here is an image from the Hindu religion, that references the root or physical chakra. It comes from the November 2009 Visual Arts paper.
See if you can discuss the use of geometry and symmetry, plus the elements of shape, line, and colour. Explain how all these add to the spiritual power of the image. What do you think some of the symbols could mean?
Post comments if you would like me to look at your thoughts.

Photoshop screenshots
Here are the techniques I demonstrated in class today.
These are useful for anybody that would like to print a good A4 photograph in black & white.
Try them out now for yourself.

Stereotypes - FDR Memorial .
Look at this famous sculpture and then make an infographic as suggested below ...
The F.D.R. Memorial
is a socio-political comment on the reforms of F.D. Roosevelt - an American president between 1933 -1945
Artist – George Segal
The figures are probably made of painted bronze - not plaster of Paris.
The text reads .........
‘The test of our
progress is not whether we add more to the abundance of those who have much, it
is whether we provide enough for those who have too little.’
Construct 7 chunks identifying 5 of the visual clues seen in the work. Put the picture (with data) in the middle.
What could each clue mean? (5 chunks)
How does the meaning in general relate to the written message? (1 chunk)
How does this sculpture relate to our own South African Millenium goals? (What are these????) (1 chunk)
Put these on a poster with the picture and information.
This is called an 'Infographic'.
You may do this as a Prezi or in Evernote. Don't forget to 'share' this with me as an e-mail.
This infographic is worth 10 marks.
Additional link to the actual monument building - this gives an idea of how Segal's sculpture was translated into a public monument. Segal originated both the "Rural Couple' and the 'Breadline' to go with the quote.

The Ethiopian on the Road to Gaza - Mbatha
Grace Kotze
This new exhibition opens on Tuesday ... 6th March at the KZNSAGallery
This oil painting by Grace Kotze shows how colour values can be used to describe form. i.e. we could call this a tonal 'drawing' in colour.
