Grade 9 analysis activity

Here is another 'Image of Beauty'. What do YOU think? 

Let's look at some elements and principles of Art to inform our opinions. This is called 'analysis'.

Texture and van Gogh

For my Grade 10s .....

Analytical activity:

Look at the above image, then try out some of the textures on scraps of paper. (Hint: read the list of materials above)


Try making some of these pens (make your own!)....

How to make a reed pen
Feather quill pens
  • Glue these scraps to a poster.
  • Explain how you made them in words.
  • Write down what they represent in the drawing.
  • Now write a paragraph on van Gogh's use of texture. (Include the name of the drawing and the date) (How long is a paragraph???? ..... about 60 words to 1/2 page)
